A man from Reading has been jailed for rape and other offences following an investigation by Thames Valley Police,
David Cameron, 45, of Bankside Close, Reading, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with a further six years to be served on licence, at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, May 28.
He was found guilty of four counts of rape, one count each of perverting the course of justice, witness intimidation, actual bodily harm (ABH), sexual assault by penetration, criminal damage, strangulation, suffocation, threats to kill and coercive control.
He was acquitted of three counts of rape, and one count each of; intentional strangulation, battery and coercive controlling behaviour and three counts of ABH.
On 2 December 2023, Cameron was arrested following reports of abuse spanning a total of eight years.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Ben Rimmer said: “David Cameron committed violent and unacceptable acts on his victim.
“This kind of assault and abuse is never acceptable and I hope this conviction and lengthy custodial sentence shows that we listen, investigate fully and take every action possible to safeguard victims against offenders.
“I would encourage any victims of assault and abuse to come forward to police or other support agencies.
