A READING man has been arrested in connection with an attempted rape and sexual assault which took place on Sunday, November 6.
The 26-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, November 11, on suspicion of attempted rape and is currently in police custody.
The arrest relates to an incident in Queens Walk, Reading, between 2.30am and 3am on Sunday, November 6, which was reported to Thames Valley Police later that day.
Detective Inspector Laura Corscadden of Reading CID, said: “This was a serious incident which was reported to us on Sunday morning.
“Since the offence was reported, we have conducted a thorough investigation, which has led to this swift arrest.
“Although this a concerning incident, we do not believe there is a wider risk to the local community.
“However, by way of reassurance, you may see an increased presence of police officers in the area over the coming weeks in the lead up to the Christmas period.
“This presence is to provide reassurance to our communities and should you have any concerns or wish to speak to an officer, please do not hesitate to do so.”
