On a crisp Sunday morning, the much‑loved Green Park Reading Half Marathon returned on 22 March 2026, drawing thousands of runners and spectators to the town for one of the highlights of the UK’s spring running calendar.
The 13.1‑mile route set off from Green Park, weaving through Whitley, past the University of Reading campus and over the River Kennet, before winding into the bustling town centre, heading west towards Prospect Park and looping back. Runners were met with roaring support as they sprinted into the Reading FC’s Select Car Leasing Stadium for a dramatic finish in front of packed stands.
From seasoned athletes chasing personal bests to first‑time participants enjoying the camaraderie and community spirit, the event offered something for everyone. Several competitors ran in aid of charities, raising vital funds and awareness, including local runners supporting autism outreach programmes.
Local residents turned out in force, lining the streets and creating the electric atmosphere that has become synonymous with the Reading Half Marathon. Volunteers and marshals ensured runners stayed safe on the course, while family and friends cheered from the sidewalks, some even pacing sections of the route to support loved ones.
Thousands of spectators also enjoyed the accompanying 3km Mini Marathon, a family‑friendly prelude to the main race that brought smiles and cheers to Green Park earlier in the day.
For those who took part or came to watch, the memories of this year’s race are now preserved in our Reading Half Marathon picture gallery.
