READING Festival has announced a brand new stage will be coming to Little John’s Farm alongside a much-anticipated return of a fan-favourite when the event returns this summer.

Both Reading and Leeds Festival are set to see a new Chevron Stage to this year.

Organisers say it will bring an open-air dance experience with “ground-breaking” immersive lighting technology of a scale “never” seen before.

It will hold capacity for 40,000 people, and feature the world’s first floating video canopy, which sees the use of hundreds of thousands of LED lights being used as a display.

It is 90% transparent and will hang above the audience, allowing them to see the sky through it.

Festival Republic Managing Director Melvin Benn said that the new feature was a “testament” to the festival’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the industry.

He also said that it would “elevate” the event’s electronic and hip-hop offerings, reflecting changing tastes and “cutting-edge production.”

The stage will see from The Prodigy, who will close the stage on Friday, August 13, alongside Bou, Denzel Curry, Kenya Grace, Sotal, Killoween, and Simone.

Saturday, August 24, will see the likes of Sunny Fodera, Barry Can’t Swim, Digga D, and Goddard take to the new stage, with Skrillex, Nia Archives, and Dom Dolla performing on Sunday, August 24.

The stage joins mainstays like the Festival Republic Stage and the Radio 1 Stage.

Mr Benn is still yet to be drawn on whether the split main stages would return this year, after having said that he “wasn’t quite ready” to make the announcement following last year’s event in an interview with NME.

As well as the Chevron Stage, Reading Festival has announced that the silent disco will be making a return for 2024.

The silent disco was moved to the main arena of the festival last year.

21Savage will be performing as a special guest, alongside acts such as The Prodigy, Skrillex, Two Door Cinema Club, Neck Deep, Pendulum, The Wombats, and Jorja Smith.

The Japanese House, Dream Wife, Matt Maltese, Viagra Boys, Digga D, and Reading’s own Only The Poets will also be in attendance.

Reading Festival returns to Richfield Avenue from Thursday-Sunday, August 21-25.
