Reading FC’s head of football operations Mark Bowen has been hit with a fine suspension for misconduct in relation to the FA’s betting rules.
Bowen, who was first-team manager of Reading from 2019-2020, was appointed as head of football operations at the club in May 2022.
A statement released by the FA says: “Mark Bowen admitted that he placed 95 bets on football matches, which were unrelated to Reading, between 19 April 2022 and 14 January 2024.
“An independent Regulatory Commission imposed a 12-week suspension on 17 July 2024, eight weeks of which are suspended until the end of the 2025/26 season, and a £7,000 fine during a hearing.
“The independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons can be seen below.”
