Reading FC star Harvey Knibbs has had his exit to Charlton Athletic delayed despite an agreement being finalised between the clubs earlier this week.
The 26-year-old midfielder is set to complete his move to the Addicks, but completion of the transfer has been delayed due to an announcement by Charlton.
Charlton confirmed that the club and Dane Murphy have mutually agreed that he will no longer be taking up the role as CEO, despite it previously being agreed.
Charlton chairman Gavin Carter said: ‘The club’s Board and ownership will now evaluate the next steps. In the meantime, the club will continue to be led by the current leadership team, who have done an excellent job – overseeing a strong finish to last season and managing a busy and productive summer.’
It has been reported that Reading are set to receive a fee in the region of £1.8million for the player who they signed on a free transfer from Cambridge United two years ago.
Knibbs has played a total of 100 games in Reading colours in all competitions and has netted 32 times.
Since moving to Reading in 2023, no other player in League One has contributed more goals and assists than him.
