Reading FC boss has responded after out of favour midfielder Tivonge Rushesha opened up on his mental struggles following a difficult season in his career.
Speaking in a video which he released on his YouTube channel, Rushesha addressed what he described as a season that he has ‘hated’.
He said: “I’ve hated this season. I’m a competitor, I want to play, I want to win, I want to be the best player on the pitch everytime I play a game.
“Everything I’ve gone through this season isn’t personal to me. There are players who have gone through what I have and there will be players that go through it after me.
“It’s sh*t. I’ve played five first team games this year, I haven’t made a bench in the league and that’s a disgusting feeling.”
When asked about Rushesha, Royals boss RIchardson said: “We’ve offered a couple of opportunities for him to go out and play but himself and his agent want to look at other options.”
Since joining Reading from Swansea City in 2023, Rushesha has made 38 appearances for the Royals, often featuring as a versatile option across midfield and defence.
Richardson’s comments indicate the club have tried to find playing opportunities for Rushesha, but with the player and his agent exploring alternatives, his future at the Select Car Leasing Stadium may lie elsewhere.
Reading are currently competing for a play-off place in League One as the season approaches its final stages.
