Reading FC manager Noel Hunt has confirmed that he would still like four or five new additions to the squad before the end of the transfer window.
The Royals have added Paudie O’Connor, Daniel Kyerewaa, Liam Fraser, Jack Stevens and loanees Matty Jacob, Finley Burns and Mark O’Mahony to their squad so far.
Meanwhile, the attack still looks light despite Harvey Knibbs’ proposed transfer to Charlton Athletic breaking down.
Speaking to Royals TV, Hunt said: “Things are happening behind the scenes. As a manager, you want players in at the start of pre-season but that doesn’t happen and it doesn’t go to plan that way.
“I think there are a lot in the same boat as us, there are also clubs that are all settled, but there are some in the same situation we are.
“We have had positive conversations, we still hope to get someone done before tomorrow but if not then we go with what we’ve got, it’s as simple as that and I’m more than comfortable with that.
“The boys are fit and prepared and we will have a right go on Saturday and ready to fight for points on the board.
“We’re trying to push things along as best as we can. We’ve made a couple of really good additions, the ones we’ve brought in have been an improvement to our squad. We lost a lot of players last year and we’ve still got four or five positions to fill.
“We’re trying all day and all night to get those things done, conversations are happening and fingers crossed maybe we get one in for tomorrow.”
