Reading FC protest group Sell Before We Dai have made a generous donation following the end of their campaign.
Reading’s long ongoing takeover saga was finally concluded on Wednesday when the club confirmed the sale of the club to former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig.
The group has been campaigning for almost two years to try and force Dai Yongge to sell the club.
They have also campaigned for the government to introduce a Football Governance Bill.
SBWD has donated £4,700 which was then rounded up to £5,000 with an extra donation from the Supporters Trust at Reading to the Reading FC Community Trust.
The Reading FC Community Trust took ownership of Reading FC Women last season after owner Dai Yongge made the decision to cut funding from the team.
This meant that the team had to drop down to the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division having been in the Women’s Super League just three years ago.
SBWD said: “As promised, the money left in our account from our fundraisers will be donated to the Reading FC Community Trust, who have kept the Women’s team alive.
“STAR have kindly added £300 to the total to round it up to the following amount – £5000.”
