Reading fell to their first League One defeat under new manager Leam Richardson as they were beaten by relegation battling Peterborough United.
The game got off to a nightmare start for Reading, as Peterborough United struck inside the opening minutes through Jimmy‑Jay Morgan in the 2nd minute, a deflected finish that put the visitors ahead.
Reading gradually regained composure and pulled level early in the second half thanks to a composed finish from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan around the 60-minute mark.
However, momentum didn’t last. Just eight minutes later, Harry Leonard curled in a fine strike to restore Peterborough’s lead, his 68th-minute goal proving decisive.
The remainder of the game saw Reading press for an equaliser, but Peterborough’s defence held firm and Reading lacked the cutting edge to break through again.
Overall, a frustrating night for the Royals, a sloppy start and inability to sustain their second-half improvement cost them dearly, while Peterborough took their chances at the right moments to come away with all three points.
Next up Reading travel away to Bradford City, who sit in second place in the table despite only being promoted from League Two last season.
