Reading FC are hoping to complete a move which would see striker Dom Ballard return to the club on a loan deal.
Still waiting for a takeover to be completed as former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig looks in pole position for a deal, the Royals will have to be patient before completing any transfers.
The club is still under a transfer embargo which restricts them to only signing free agents or loans, but the club is expected to be active in the transfer market once a takeover is finalised.
Ballard joined the Royals on loan from Southampton last campaign, but had his promising start to the season cut short by injury.
Ballard scored three goals in 10 League One appearances for Reading before he suffered a damaging injury which kept him out for the remainder of the season after snapping his patellar tendon against Wycombe in November 2023.
Having completed his rehabilitation process with his parent club, Selles is keen to bring the forward back to Reading for another spell.
The 19-year-old has impressed in the youth ranks internationally for England, scoring three times in three caps for the U18s before netting four times in eight games for the U19’s.
It is expected that Southampton will sanction a deal to loan Ballard out again after they gained promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
