Reading FC chairman Rob Couhig heaped praise on the job that manager Noel Hunt has done since taking over as first-team manager.
Hunt took over when Ruben Selles moved to Hull City last December with the Royals in the midst of a play-off push.
Despite all the off-field distractions, Hunt managed to maintain some excellent results which allowed the team to challenge for the top six throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
Reading eventually missed out on a play-off place on the final day, but can look back on a very promising season of progress on the field.
Speaking on the Rich and Rob podcast, Couhig said: “Remember Noel (Hunt) took over from what everybody thought was the next superstar manager, and in fact he just got hired at Sheffield United.
“Noel had not been a manager, but he has performed magnificently with all these conditions and stresses so we’re excited about the future with him.”
Couhig also spoke about his sympathy for the staff and the job they had to do during uncertain times under the previous ownership.
They went through it,” said Couhig when speaking about the staff’s uncertainty of not knowing whether they would be paid at the end of each month.
“We have a great deal of sympathy for them. They’re good people and they’ve done a great job of keeping the club going.”
He also elaborated on his plans to make Reading a recognisable name in the United States.
“My job is to make Reading a ubiquitous term in the United States for English football and to have it be known for honesty, transparency and financial sustainability.”
