Reading FC have appointed a new goalkeeper coach as Noel Hunt adds to his staff.
The club have confirmed that Rob Shay will be stepping up from the Academy to take charge of goalkeeping duties for the first-team, as well as the Academy.
Previous goalkeeping coach Tony Warner departed the club last week to join League One Wigan Athletic.
Rob has been at the club since he was eight years old having joined the academy before going on to join the coaching staff.
First-team manager Noel Hunt said: “Rob is a fantastic addition to the first team staff, not only is he a fantastic coach but he knows this football club inside out. Rob is a specialist in his field and we are all very pleased that he’s accepted this role of head of goalkeeping!”
Shay added: “I’m delighted to step into this new role at a exciting point for the club. I’m looking forward to working with the talented goalkeepers we have across the club ensuring we have a comprehensive coaching program in which they can thrive. The role helps to align our Reading goalkeeping principles from top to bottom so our goalkeepers help our teams achieve positive results in the way we saw Joel do so well last year!”
