Reading FC have announced the appointment of a new first-team assistant manager to join Leam Richardson’s coaching staff.
Richardson was hired as Reading’s new manager to take over from Noel Hunt, but started with disappointment in his first match in charge as the Royals surrendered a two-goal lead in the FA Cup against non-league Carlisle United before losing the tie in extra-time.
He will take charge of his first League One match for Reading this Thursday when they host Stevenage.
Danny Schofield and former England international striker James Beattie have already joined Richardson’s coaching team, while the most recent announcement sees Rob Kelly join as his assistant.
Kelly was most recently the assistant manager at Barrow AFC and has previously worked with the new Reading boss at Wigan Athletic.
Starting his coaching career at 24, Kelly has worked at Leicester City, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, West Brom, Leeds United, Fleetwood Town, Bury and others.
He has also worked abroad at Malmo FF in Sweden, Fortuna Dusselforf in Germany and AGF Aargus in Denmark.
