READING defender Nesta Guinness-Walker has joined League One side Stevenage on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Royals, who are in financial crisis under owner Dai Yongge, have already sold Tom Holmes and are on the brink of selling Nelson Abbey.

Guinness-Walker has been used as a peripheral figure under Ruben Selles this season and has struggled for game time.

He has played just eight times in League One for the Royals this campaign.

He now joins a Stevenage side who are pushing for the play-offs and currently sit in seventh position on 46 points from 26 games.

A statement released by Reading reads: “The 24-year-old left-back made 30 appearances last season, but has just 11 in all competitions this campaign, picking up two assists and two clean sheets.

“He will head to the Lamex to link up with Steve Evans’ side, who are 7th in the table, one place and 3 points outside the play-offs, with a game in hand.

“The loan agreement between the two clubs also means he won’t be available for selection for our upcoming trip to Hertfordshire on Tuesday 6th February (7:45 pm).

“We’d like to wish Nesta all the best for the remainder of the season.”
