A READING businessman has expands his network of fast food restaurants with the launch of a new diner.
Richard Forte, who owns 15 McDonald’s restaurants in Berkshire and is a sponsor of the Pride of Reading Awards, last week launched opened the doors to the latest store.
Customers can now pick up a Big Mac and fries at The Bishop Centre in Taplow.
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the 62-seater restaurant offers dine-in, takeaway, delivery and click and serve options.
It has created 50 new full and part-time jobs, and sees the kitchen upstairs, with food transported downstairs via a lift system.
The branch uses some of the latest technology to help implement the firm’s ‘Convenience of the Future’ restaurant programme.
Key innovations include redesigning the front counter to reduce congestion around touchscreens, shorter queues and more space.
A dedicated courier waiting area and entrance will again reduce congestion in the dining area and make it easier for couriers to collect delivery orders.
The new kitchen has been designed so there is a bigger assembly area, and dedicated areas to prepare dine-in orders. The aim is this will help crews serve more quickly, efficiently, and accurately than ever before.
And a redesigned room for staff has been created to improve their experience as well. This will create a more relaxing and comfortable space for crew to take a well-deserved break.
Mr Forte said: “We are delighted to have opened in The Bishop Centre in Taplow and can’t wait to see local customers, both new and existing, enjoy our services on offer.
“People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create.
“We’re committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages and backgrounds, promoting flexibility and equality.”
