READING Blue Coat school has congratulated students on an “exceptional” set of A-Level results as pupils collect their grades across the country.
More than half of grade awarded were A grades or higher, and 78% were of B grade or higher.
This means that more than 90% of students will go on to their first choice university
Among those celebrating were Jesse Brener, who is heading to the University of Cambridge to study Natural Sciences after garnering four A* grades and being awarded full Music Colours at the school’s annual prize-giving event.
Harry Butterworth has also secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study History and Politics after achieving three A* grades and being awarded the 2024 Politics Prize.
Joint Deputy Head of School Abigail Crew is set to study Law at the University of Nottingham after getting two A-grades and an A*, while Henry Hawes is set to study History at Durham after achieving A*A*A* in Business Studies, History and Politics .
Headmaster Pete Thomas said: “As our students finish their time at Blue Coat, I’m delighted that their ability and efforts, the care and dedication from our teachers, and the tremendous support of their families have been rewarded with an excellent set of results, ensuring that an exciting world of opportunity awaits them.
“It has certainly been a great pleasure to watch them grow into fine young adults and flourish in abundant opportunities outside of the classroom too, and I know they will enter their chosen universities and futures able and willing to give so much.”
