TWO charities based around the Royal Berkshire Hospital are £25,000 better off as a result of a Reading-based law firm.

For the past three years, Blandy & Blandy has been fundraising for its adopted charities Babies in Buscot Support and the Royal Berks Charity, both of which are based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The money was raised through special events and events, including a team running the Reading Half Marathon earlier this year.

Chairman and partner of Blandy, Nick Burrows, said: “It has been our pleasure to work with these two fantastic local charities, supporting the NHS in our area throughout what has been a very challenging time for everyone.

“From colleagues participating in the Reading Half Marathon to spending time volunteering in the Hospital’s new health and wellbeing garden for staff, it has been an immensely enjoyable and rewarding partnership.”

The support from the Blagrave Street firm, which has just announced its intention to open an office in Wokingham, has been welcomed by the two charities.

BIBS’ chief executive Sarah Critchley said: “Over the last three years, BIBS has thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Blandy & Blandy and is incredibly thankful for the firm’s support.

“The funds donated to BIBS over this time has made a huge impact on our small charity – supporting the local neonatal unit, Buscot Ward, who care for premature and poorly newborn babies at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

“They have helped us fund equipment, improve facilities, and provide emotional support to Buscot families.”

She added: “Blandy & Blandy also played an integral part of ‘Team BIBS’, our Reading Half Marathon running team in 2023, helping us have a very successful event.

“We want to say thank you to everyone at Blandy & Blandy for their continued support and engagement during our charity partnership and helping us to save tiny lives.”

And Jo Warrior, director at the Royal Berks Charity, added: “Thank you so much to everyone at Blandy & Blandy, we have thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at the firm.

“Blandy & Blandy’s support has made a real difference to the patients of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, helping to improve the experience and care they receive.

“We wish everyone all the very best with the firm’s two new local charities, both very worthy causes.”

Blandy & Blandy is now preparing to support two more charities, this time for two years. From Saturday, July 1, Berkshire Women’s Aid and The Cowshed will be the focus for its fundraising.
