A BOROUGH charity that works to support homeless and vulnerable people has been recognised for its donations to Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) throughout the year.
Wokingham In Need volunteers have received a letter of thanks from the hospital’s voluntary services manager for their comfort bags containing daily essential hygiene items, its knitted and crocheted items, and toys.
“We are so proud of our volunteers,” said Wokingham In Need founder Sue Jackson.
Sukhi Sidhu, voluntary services manager for the hospital said in a letter of thanks to the charity: “ A lot of patients are admitted on an emergency basis, and being able to give them a comfort bag that has been put together lovingly by members of our community makes a big difference to patients.
“And it bring smiles to staff members who see first-hand the positive effect of the gift on a patient.
“Handmade items, for babies and adults, bring a touch of home comfort to an otherwise clinical environment, and the donations of toys are distributed to the many children’s areas throughout the hospital.”
The hospital says it values the charity’s support, without which they would not be able to provide this type of service.
“It is really humbling to work with our community and with organisations like Wokingham In Need who are making a difference,” said Ms Sidhu.
