Love – Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale – Now that’s some title for a song but what a song! A classic from a classic album, ‘Forever Changes’, often cited, quite understandably, as one of the best albums of all time. Andy M & I had the pleasure of a road trip recently to The 1865 in Southampton to see the current incarnation of the legendary US West Coast psychedelic band which features original guitarist Johnny Echols in the line up! It was a brilliant show. The band breathed fresh life into the timeless music and Johnny showed that he could still play with incredible flair. It really was a magical performance and the atmosphere in the room was almost spiritual. You couldn’t help but smile, chill and bask in the joy of the evening as you were transported to those heady late 1960’s days. Absolutely wonderful! https://www.facebook.com/LovewithJohnnyEchols

Leonie Jakobi – Bedroom Eyes – Regular readers will know that we regularly suggest that if you go to a gig to see your fave band you should always make sure you check out the support act too. You never know who you might discover. We did that at the Love Revisited show that we write about above and we were so glad we did as we loved the set by a very talented artist, Leonie Jakobi. Leonie is originally from Germany but now lives in Liverpool having moved to the UK to develop her musical career. At the show she performed solo and, with her strong rock vocal and stage performance, she certainly impressed everyone there. Leonie also plays with a band and we’d love to see that sometime. This is one of her band songs and it’s a great rock song, inspired by Debbie Harry. Hopefully we’ll see Leonie solo or with her band, or hopefully both, in our area soon – https://www.facebook.com/leoniejakobi

Mackenzie – It’s Alright – Talking of strong voices, here’s a great one from the local area that you can see very soon. It’s Mackenzie and she produced one of our fave singles last year with the brilliant ‘Ordinary’. This is her latest single and, as always, It’s excellent! A wonderful slice of powerful pop rock. So, where can you see her locally? She’ll be at Wokingham Festival on Saturday August 24th – https://beacons.ai/thisismackenzie

The Cold Blooded Hearts – Love’s Lost – The band that features Gareth Ainsworth, of Wycombe Wanderers & QPR fame will be at Wokingham Festival on August 25. This is from their acclaimed, ‘The Cold Light of Day’ album – https://thecoldbloodedhearts.com/

Tom Robinson Band – Power in the Darkness – We are lucky to have some classic artists coming to play in the area and here’s one of the best! It’s the Tom Robinson Band who were at Reading Face Bar last Saturday – https://www.facebook.com/tomrobinsonmusic
