RABBLE Theatre, a dedicated charity in Reading promoting creativity and accessibility in the arts, has announced the arrival of RABBLE Ensemble, a new opportunity for aspiring professional and dedicated community actors to experience a professional production process.

RABBLE’s Ensemble’s first venture is their upcoming amateur production of Bloody Wimmin by Lucy Kirkwood, by arrangement with Nick Hem Books. RABBLE Ensemble takes a step up from RABBLE’s Adult Get Up on Stage, allowing the actors to progress their skills to the next level. They will be performing the show during the final week of March 2025, with three performances taking place in Reading.

Bloody Wimmin, a bold and thought-provoking play by award-winning playwright Lucy Kirkwood, explores the lives of a group of women navigating the complexities of feminist activism, personal relationships, and societal expectations. With sharp wit and a fierce sense of urgency, the play shines a light on the struggles and triumphs of women fighting for equality and justice.

RABBLE Ensemble is seeking enthusiastic and committed performers to bring this powerful piece to life. Auditions will take place on Thursday 9th January 2025. The production is open to amateur actors of all experience levels, with a focus on inclusivity and diversity.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” says Sabina Netherclift, Director of the production.

“The themes of wanting to make a difference and the human cost of wanting to make a difference are there. Amongst those themes, there are the human relationships that make us who we are, really. It has the warmth of human life in it but it also has the opportunity for us, as an ensemble, to explore the kind of group movement and how to create a dynamic piece, as well as one that is about human life.”
