A man who has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes have been nominated for Fundraiser of the Year.
Neil Humphries started The Big Match charity when his father David died of a brain tumour aged 66 in 2012.
Organised with mum Elizabeth, the charity kicked off with a fundraising football match at the Madejski Stadium which raised £10,000.
Since then The Big Match has raised nearly half a million pounds for charities, sponsored 15 grassroots football teams with kit, and donated many defibrillators to communities, schools, nurseries and grassroots football clubs.
Originally funds raised supported the The Brain Tumour Charity and Action for Children but the charity has extended to supplying defibrillators.
A nominator said: “The Big Match has helped so many people. The family team never stop fundraising all year round and giving opportunities to children and people in need for the past 11 years.”
Another nominator added: “Neil works tirelessly raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity and this past year has raised money for much needed defibrillators within the community. I think so far they have handed out 50.”
Fundraiser of the Year is sponsored by Cream Design. Neil and his family have also been nominated for Family of the Year sponsored by De Vere Wokefield Estate.
