The Chris Tarrant Award, Richard Ashfield, sponsor The Oracle
“An amazing human being who continues to work tirelessly for the town in his role as verger of Reading Minster,” has been nominated for The Chris Tarrant Award.
His nominator said: “He is one of the kindest and hardworking individuals I’ve ever met or worked with and nothing is ever too much trouble for him.
“He has been involved with the Reading Minster for over twenty years and he is well known within the town and community. He is so supportive and works tirelessly to support anyone who comes to the church looking for additional help.”
They added he often works through the night to accommodate large-scale events and services.
“He once worked through the night to make sure the church set-up for a large theatre production in the church to the following day’s Remembrance activity took place smoothly.
“Nothing is ever too much trouble for Richard and he’s always willing to go the extra mile. He not only volunteers a lot of his time for free but also helps out with anything from building stages, sound engineering, events management to offering support and guidance or just a cup of tea and biscuit.
“Not only has he provided me with professional help and support but has also been a great friend during difficult times. Thank you Richard!”
The Chris Tarrant Award is sponsored by The Oracle shopping centre.
