Nominated for Business in Action – Under 50 Employees, Odyssey Group Fitness, sponsor Boyes Turner
A company and its co-owner has been nominated for “outstanding work bringing people together through fitness and community.”
The nominator put forward Odyssey Group Fitness in Tilehurst and Louise Ambrose for the Business in Action Award – Under 50 Employees sponsored by law firm Boyes Turner.
They said: “Odyssey is not just a gym; it is a family, and that is all down to Louise and her team of trainers.
“They have created a space where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities feel welcome, supported and part of something meaningful.”
The nominator added Louise runs classes for all abilities, including special sessions for teens and over 60s, with a strong focus on strength, fitness, confidence, mental health and connection.
“For many members, especially those who have struggled with anxiety or isolation, Odyssey has been life-changing. People do not just train, they belong,” they said.
Odyssey works closely with the local community and charity sector with Louise organising fundraisers and events for causes such as Battle Cancer, raising thousands and uniting people behind shared goals.
She also offers prep and specialist classes for those taking on fitness events. Her run club has helped people who had never run before to complete races and Odyssey recently hosted its own 10k.
“Just as important are the social events that Louise and the team put on. Quiz nights, bingo, Christmas parties, summer games and picnic days help people make lasting friendships and feel part of something special,” said the nominator.
“Louise leads by example and lifts everyone around her. Her impact reaches far beyond the gym walls.”
