Community Champion, Lorraine Last, sponsor Reading Football Club

One of the founding members of Redlands Women’s Institute works tirelessly on a multitude of charitable activities both as part of Redlands.

Her nominator for the Community Champion award said she does everything “from knitting, crocheting and sewing things, organising others into making items too, delivering these items to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and other local charities such as Alexander Devine.”

Amongst many others, she has helped fundraise for Berkshire Women’s Aid through cake sales and the annual stall at Reading Pride; gathered much-needed items for refugees in the community and volunteered at the Sue Ryder hospice.

“This is all whilst taking care of her husband and often babysitting her many grandchildren too,” they said.

“Redlands would not be the amazing community group that it is today without her, and she is tireless in her generosity and kindness.”
