Young Person of the Year, Ipek Deniz, sponsor The Abbey School
A young woman is a role model for young people, demonstrating determination, hard work, and a deep sense of community spirit, said her nominator for a Pride of Reading award.
“It is with great pride that I nominate Ipek Deniz for the Young Person of the Year Award,” said her nominator.
“Over the past two years, Ipek has consistently demonstrated an outstanding commitment to her community and a remarkable drive to make a positive impact.
“As an active member of The Abbey and Reading, Ipek has dedicated her time and energy to various initiatives,” they said.
In year 7, she organised a fundraiser to support victims of the Turkey and Syria earthquake.
“A year later, there had been a terrible earthquake in Morocco,” said the nominator. “She then organised a bake sale in school to help spread awareness and donate to the people in need.
“Her fundraising efforts have supported numerous charities, showcasing her compassion and desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
“From organising her own bake sales to participating in a wide range of clubs both inside and outside of school, Ipek has consistently proven her ability to take on leadership roles and inspire those around her,” said her nominator.
“Ipek is a role model for young people, demonstrating determination, hard work and a deep sense of community spirit. It is for these reasons that I nominate Ipek.”
The Young Person of the Year award is sponsored by The Abbey School.
