THE fire brigade has set its council tax rate for the year ahead.
At a meeting held on Thursday, February 15, members of the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority agreed its budget from April – and increase of 2.99%.
The means a Band D household will see the precept increase by £2.36.
The authority says the rise will also it to invest in fire stations, vehicles and computer equipment.
Councillor Jeff Brooks, chair of Royal Berkshire Fire Authority, said: “I am aware of the financial pressures that all residents are facing in this current climate. It is therefore important for you to know that the Fire Authority is committed to delivering excellent services and good value for money, with this year’s Budget.”
