The annual Wargrave Sprint Triathlon, due originally to take place on Sunday, June 23 has been postponed and moved to a new date.

The event will now take place on Sunday, September 15 due to an issue on the swim course.

Race organiser Jo Maundrell said: “There is a tree on the swim course and the unusually fast flow of the river means it can’t be removed until after our race.

“Swimmers won’t be able to get past it and also the river is unseasonably cold.

“These two factors combined means we have had to make the late decision to postpone until Sunday, September 15.

“The tree will definitely be cleared, and the summer will have had the chance to warm up and slow down the river, making it a safer and more enjoyable event for everyone.
