IT’S BEEN looked forward to by bright sparks for ages, but tonight’s firework display from Reading Lions has been postponed.
The event had been due to take place at Scours Lane, off Oxford Road on Friday, November 3.
It raises thousands for good causes and is a hugely popular event, but heavy rain has forced organisers to change their plans.
Part of the site is waterlogged, and as this is where the crowds would watch the display, it’s impossible to hold it. After all, fireworks are meant to be watched from a safe distance.
In a statement on the club’s website, they promise to rearrange the event.
“We are working to issue a new date for the fireworks display within the next few weeks. Details will be shared with you shortly,” it says.
“All purchased tickets will be automatically valid for the new event.
“Ticket sales are currently suspended until we are able to announce any new date.”
It continues: “After a year of planning we share your disappointment and hope that you appreciate that this decision was made to protect your safety.”
