Popular football YouTuber Nieve Petruzziello, known online as StuntPegg, has highlighted the plight of Reading Football Club amid their ongoing ownership crisis.

She most recently produced a video on her channel, which has more than 435,000 subscribers, titled ‘The Club That Could Be Removed from the Football League’, exploring the ongoing crisis at Reading.

She spoke to Jack Simpson, member of the Supporters Trust at Reading (STAR) to learn more about Reading’s issues.

He said: “The warning signs were there (over Dai Yongge), it was ridiculous how much money we were spending on players. £8million on George Puscas, £5million on Lucas Joao.

“At one point for every £1 of income we were spending £200 on wages, it was absolutely astronomical and out of control.

“It’s not just the fans that suffer but the staff. The everyday staff, the cleaners, the ticket office staff, the people who work in the fanstore, the catering staff, all of those people suffer.

“In November 2023 they were paid late, everyone just wants to be paid on time.

“Everybody wants success but you have to run it sustainably which is the complete opposite of what Mr Dai has done throughout his ownership.

“The club has been up for sale for more than 500 days and he’s not sold it yet, it goes to show how much contempt he has for the fans. Sort this out before it is too late.”

Concluding the video after watching Reading defeat Wycombe Wanderers, Nieve added: “I’ve been to my fair share of games this eason in some top tier atmospheres, but in terms of being hooked in from the start this is right up there.

“Reading are a brilliant football club. The intention Reading had for this game was to show the club is the heartbeat of the town and they did just that.”

Reading currently have a deadline of until April 22 for the Dai Yongge to sell the club or could face action from the EFL.
