Police appeal for witnesses to incident of GBH which left man with a slashed face

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an incident of grievous bodily harm in Reading which left a man with a facial wound.

Thames Valley Police is seeking witnesses to the incident which occurred at around 10.45pm at the junction of Oxford Road and Beresford Road on Saturday, September 30.

The victim, a man in his forties, was walking along Oxford Road when he was approached by and unknown man.

They were engaged in a short conversation before the victim was slashed across the face.

He was then chased along Oxford Road, heading west, away from Reading town centre, and attempted to flag down taxis while running before managing to escape the offender.

The victim attended hospital with a wound to his face and has since been discharged.

The offender is described as a man in his early 20s, around 5ft 5ins tall, with short, dark hair and stubble on his face.

Investigating officer, PC Philip Marchant, said: “We are conducting an investigation following this incident of grievous bodily harm.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who has any information about the incident, to please come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference 43230439851.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or its website.”
