THAMES Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an incident of attempted murder in Reading.
Officers were called to Kennet Walk at around 9pm on Wednesday, April 9, following a report of a serious assault.
A man in his twenties was treated at the scene by South Central Ambulance Service staff and taken to hospital.
He remains there undergoing care and is in a critical condition.
A cordon has been put in place at the scene on Kennet Walk and patrols currently being undertaken by officers.
Leading investigating officer Detective Inspector Jon Morley said: “I understand that this will cause concern but I would like to reassure the community that we do not believe there is a threat to the wider public as a result of this incident.
“We are in the early stages of our investigation and you will see a significant presence in the area from uniformed and detective colleagues for some time.
“If you have any concerns, please speak to the officers.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who has any information that could assist our enquiries to please get in touch.
“I would also like to hear from anybody who has dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the area.
