READING’S regular celebration of original poetry and verse is back this week.
The March edition of Poets’ Cafe is returning to South Street Arts Centre once again, giving Berkshire’s bards the opportunity to share their work and hear poetry from a guest performer.
This month, the event will welcome award-winning spoken word artist, writer, and producer Desree.
As well as being selected as Artist in Residence for EMPOWORD in Slough, Desree was the sole creative director and producer of Slough’s poetry festival EPF Poetry Fest.
She was also chosen as Poet in Residence for Glastonbury Festival in 2022, following an appearance there in 2019, and regular appearances on BBC Radio Berkshire.
As well as a guest poet, the event also sees open mic performances from attendees, hosted by Katie Meehan and Vic Pickup.
Poets’ Cafe returns to South Street Arts Centre from 8.30pm on Friday, March 13, and again on the second Friday of each month.
