THE POETS’ Cafe is back at South Street Arts Centre this week, bringing guest poets and local performers to the stage.
April’s event will feature guest spots from local poets John Froy, Robin Thomas, and Susan Utting.
John Froy has penned a number of books, including The Driver, To Be Frank, and three volumes of memoirs, as well as two collections of poetry: Eggshell: A Decorator’s Notes, and Sandpaper & Seahorses.
He also ran local publisher Two Rivers Press from 2003-2009.
Robin Thomas is also the author of a number of books including A Fury of Yellow, Momentary Turmoil, and A Distant Hum, as well as The Weather and the Moon, published y Two Rivers Press.
Susan Utting taught poetry and creative writing at The University of Reading and Oxford University for nearly two decades, and was appointed Community Laureate for Southern Arts’ Year of the Artist.
She is the founder of Reading Poets’ Cafe, and her work was among those selected by The Poetry Library to be recorded for Poetry International at the South Bank Centre in London.
The event will also feature its usual open-mic slots, and will be hosted by resident writers and rhymers Katie Meehan and Vic Pickup.
Poets’ Cafe, presented by Reading Stanza, returns to South Street Arts Centre on Friday, April 11, and again on the second Friday of each month.
