When was I not writing poems Mum?
Tell me I can’t remember.
First printed when I was 12,
a poem I forgot.
I think in rhythm and in verse,
pictures in my mind.
Strange associations come together
forming complete stanzas.
As long as I have my marbles,
even when they roll away,
words will weave together,
flow like glitter glue.

POETRY CORNER: 11 Commandments for the Wannabe Generation
1. Thou shalt have no other trainers but Nike.
2. Thou shalt get yourself into debt buying unaffordable designer goods.
3. Thou shalt name-drop famous people and exotic holidays, wherever possible.
4. Thou shalt worship daily at the altar of Instagram.
5. Thou shalt aspire to be a celebrity.
6. Thou shalt not kill the vibe by having anything more than a token conscience.
7. Thou shalt commit adultery and sell your story to the press.
8. Thou shalt not steal … unless it’s fraud and you’re very good at it.
9. Thou shalt not put up with anything mildly unpleasant without having a right old moan
10. Thou shalt covet anything worth having and do all of the above to get it.
11. If all, or indeed any, of the above fail, thou shalt go on “I’m a celebrity get me out of here.”
