READING FC climbed up to 16th place in the League One table with an important win over relegation rivals Port Vale.

Lewis Wing broke the deadlock with 15 minutes left after hitting a thunderous shot into the corner before Harvey Knibbs doubled the advantage in the 83rd minute to wrap up the win.

DAVID BUTTON 6: Did what was asked from him and responded well following a disappointing display on Saturday.

ANDY YIADOM 6: Got plenty of space down the right going forward as the game went on. Did well to beat Mighten to the ball when he had a good chance on the rebound.

AMADOU MBENGUE 6: Was able to bring the ball out of defence confidently despite losing the ball a few times. Was rarely troubled by the Vale forwards.

Reading FC: Time for a change or keep the faith?

TYLER BINDON 7: Calm and composed which helped Reading’s build up play, particularly in the second-half. Contributed well to keep a clean sheet.

CLINTON MOLA 6: A fairly resolute display from the full-back to help his side to a clean sheet. Stood up to any test thrown at him by the Vale forwards.

MICHAEL CRAIG 5: Couldn’t offer enough going forward to contribute to Reading’s build up play and as a result was withdrawn at half-time.

LEWIS WING 8: An absolute scorcher of a shot to break the deadlock. Such an asset in this league. Wand of a right foot.

HARVEY KNIBBS 7: Wrapped the game up as he stayed alive in the box to slam into the roof of the net after Elliott came close.

FEMI AZEEZ 7: Kept persisting and was a constant threat. Put in an excellent ball for Ehibhatiomhan that he should have buried. Forced a superb stop from the keeper.

KELVIN EHIBHATIOMHAN 5: Had the best chance of the first-half with a free header at the back post but didn’t get enough power on it to beat the keeper. Taken off after an hour.

SAM SMITH 6: Made runs in behind but the ball was often played too direct which made for a frustrating evening for the striker.
