Reading were made to pay the price for a costly error as Wycome Wanderers collected all three points courtesy of Beryly Lubala’s late penalty.

The Royals had done well to work their way back in the contest to level up to amend for what was a poor first-half performance.

But that hard work was undone when Clinton Mola conceded a penalty late on which allowed Wycombe to score an 87th minute winner.

DAVID BUTTON 6: Couldn’t’ have done anything with the goal, which was a stunner. Rushed off his line quickly to collect what was a dangerous cross from McCleary.

ANDY YIADOM 6: Looked a bit uncomfortable in the first-half as Reading were pinned back but improved as the game wore on

TYLER BINDON 7: Used his athleticism to get his team out of defensive trouble on a few occasions. Enjoying a really good run in the team. Came very close to scoring early in the second-half with a header that hit the post.

AMADOU MBENGUE 6: Another relatively solid display from the 22-year-old who is making that place his own at centre-back.

CLINTON MOLA 4: Had a pretty positive second-half and made some good bursts forward. But made a fatal error, sliding in recklessly which cost the team defeat.

MICHAEL CRAIG 5: Nowhere near his best. Part of what was a lacklustre first-half display as Reading failed to knit anything together and was withdrawn at the break.

LEWIS WING 6: An underwhelming first-half, but battled hard to wrestle control of the game in the second-half and looked better next to Savage.

HARVEY KNIBBS 6 : Wasn’t his day, nothing fell for him in the final third and he struggled to make a big impact on the game.

FEMI AZEEZ 7: Stayed composed and delivered what was a pinpoint cross to set up Sam Smith to head home the equaliser.

KELVIN EHIBHATIOMHAN 5: Off the pace. Kept having to chase his loose first touch which became frustrating for everyone. Taken off at half-time.

SAM SMITH 7: Forced a save from the keeper from a tight angle before he took his chance well with a header which he planted into the corner.

SUBS

CHARLIE SAVAGE 7: A positive change from the boss at the break and it paid off. Savage’s influence helped Reading gain control in the second-half.

BEN ELLIOTT 6: Brought a spark early in the second-half, but did fade and played a couple of disappointingly loose passes. Not convincing when pushed out wide.
