READING FC drew 1-1 in their crucial match-up against Wigan, leaving them perilously close to the drop.

Charlie Hughes scored with a header in the 81st minute, but Reading rallied and found an equaliser in stoppage time through Yakou Meite.

Joe Lumley 6: Not tested in the first 45, but dealt with a couple of shots from close range in the second half.

Andy Yiadom 6: Was given the licence to get forward, but was less effective in the second period. Not seriously tested on the defensive side of his game.

Tom Holmes 7: An assured performance from the centre-back. Was typically committed and offered a threat on attacking set pieces.

Naby Sarr 7: Dealt with balls into the channel well and was strong in his aerial duels.

Nesta Guinness-Walker 7: A threat down the left and was given a good amount of freedom to get forward. Nullified Wigan’s threat on his side too.

Tom McInytre 6: Went about his business diligently in his now rather familiar defensive midfield slot. Was replaced by Mbengue deep in the second half.

Cesare Casadei 6: Not at his brilliant best but worked hard out of possession.

Jeff Hendrick 7: Got stuck in and always looked to get on the ball. A positive showing, but could have been braver in shooting from range.

Junior Hoilett 6: Made a good start to the game, putting in some high quality crosses. Could tell he had been out for a while as the Canadian tired after the break.

Shane Long 4: Really struggled out on the wing. Didn’t offer much threat and was hauled off for Azeez early in the second period.

Lucas Joao 5: A frustrating afternoon for the Angolan. Was presented with a couple of half chances but couldn’t work enough space for himself.

Substitutes:

Femi Azeez 6: Put in some dangerous deliveries from the right.

Yakou Meite 7: Came on late and managed to grab an equaliser.

Amadou Mbengue 5: N/A

Tyrese Fornah 5: N/A
