PLANS to build 35 homes that would have seen the boundary of Caversham extended have been taken down.
Real Capital Developments submitted to South Oxfordshire Council a proposal to build the homes on a field that has been used for equestrian activities. It has three sections with a paddock in its centre and a number of outbuildings, and is situated immediately west of Highdown Avenue, a private residential road in Caversham, and outside of Reading’s boundaries.
The scheme had appeared on South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning portal under reference P22/S1388/PEJ but has been taken down. It has also been removed from Reading Borough Council’s planning portal where it was listed under reference 220630.
The 35-home development would have comprised 13 three-bed, 11 two-bed, and six four-bedrooms homes, with five one-bed apartments.
Fourteen homes would have been designated affordable – 40% of the development.
Explaining the reason for the plan’s removal, a spokesperson for South Oxfordshire Council said it was a ‘pre-application submission’ that was not meant to be made public. As such, it does not comment on pre-application submissions.
Initial documents for the proposal were submitted on behalf of the developers by planning agents GL Hearn. They stated: “We are submitting this request to secure South Oxfordshire District Council’s pre-application advice in regard to the preliminary proposals we have developed for the site.
“In this way we can review any technical or design advice the council may consider relevant to the development of this site, in finalising our proposed submission for planning.
“In particular we would welcome your feedback on the documents and drawings that would be required as part of an outline planning application for the site.”
It is unclear whether a planning application will re-appear for the site.
GL Hearn has been contacted for comment.
