Reading FC kept their play-off hopes well and truly alive with victory over promotion hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers.
In a frantic contest between the two local sides, it was separated by a kick from the penalty spot.
It was Wycombe, who started the day in third place, who looked the more likely of the teams to take the lead throughout the first-half in an opening 45 minutes which lacked quality from both teams.
However, it was Reading who eventually found a breakthrough when former Wycombe loanee Chem Campbell was tripped in the box.
Harvey Knibbs stepped up to the spot and maintained his superb scoring season as he notched his 14th league goal of the campaign with a little less than 15 minutes left.
Noel Hunt freshened up his team with changes which allowed Reading’s defence to hold firm to pick up a clean sheet and in the process three precious points.
Reading ended the day in 7th spot and are just one point off the top six with six games to go.
