READING gave their League One survival hopes a big boost with a victory over promotion chasing Derby County, who were lookign to to go top of the table.

At oppostie ends of the table going into the game, it was the Royals who showed determination and confidecne throughout as they created plenty of chances throughout the first-half.

Despite not being rewarded in the opening 45 minutes, the hosts did find the breakthrough quickly after the restart when Mukairu was well placed to convert on the rebound after Femi Azeez had hit the post.

Reading remain in the drop zone and four points adrift of safety. However, things are starting to look up with at least five teams above them in clear view to catch and with a game in hand over 20th placed Shrewsbury Town.

The Royals are up against in form Leyton Orient at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday.
