Reading moved back into the League One play-off places with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan scored twice as the Royals produced a dominant display to strengthen their promotion hopes and extend their strong home form.
Reading made a fast start and went ahead after just nine minutes when Ehibhatiomhan headed home from close range following good work from Kamari Doyle. The hosts doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when Wigan defender Will Aimson turned Charlie Savage’s cross into his own net.
The early goals set the tone for a largely comfortable afternoon for the home side, who limited Wigan to few clear opportunities. Goalkeeper Joel Pereira was rarely troubled as Reading controlled possession and looked dangerous on the counter-attack.
Reading sealed the win midway through the second half when Ehibhatiomhan grabbed his second of the game, finishing confidently to make it 3-0 and secure all three points.
The victory lifted Reading into sixth place in League One, moving them into the play-off positions as the race for promotion intensifies.
