Reading FC face their biggest clash of the season in a relegation six pointer away at Peterborough United on Wednesday evening.
The Royals have lost seven Championship games in a row which leaves them in serious danger of being relegated.
It has been a manic week at Reading after several rumours circulated on Sunday evening that manager Veljko Paunovic was set to be sacked by the club.
However, the Serbian is currently still in charge and is set to take his team to London Road tomorrow night for a crunch relegation match.
The Posh are one place and two points below Reading in the table.
A win would give Reading some breathing room and put them five points away from the drop zone.
Peterborough do however have a game in hand on the Royals with the prospect of defeat tomorrow evening putting the Berkshire side in serious threat of dropping down to League One.
Both teams have the joint worst defensive record in the league having conceded 60 goals each.
Reading have been more potent in attack with 36 goals, while Peterborough are the second lowest scorers in the division with 23.
Darren Ferguson’s side have won just five league matches this season, and have suffered more defeats than anyone else, joint with bottom club Barnsley on 19.
The Posh’s recent form isn’t much better than Reading’s. They have picked up just one point from their previous five matches which came in a 2-2 stalemate away at Birmingham City.
Reading already boast a win over Peterborough which came back in September at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Reading went ahead with two quickfire second-half goals through John Swift and Tom Dele-Bashiru.
The visitors got back in the contest through Nathan Thompson, but Dele-Bashiru grabbed his second of the game with just two minutes to play to seal three points for the Royals.
