THAMES Valley Police’s Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber has named Jason Hogg as his proposed candidate to become Chief Constable.
It follows the announcement that incumbent Chief Constable John Campbell would be retiring when his term comes to an end next March.
Jason Hogg currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Constable of Thames Valley, having been appointed in 2019.
Since he began working in policing in 1995, Mr Hogg has worked largely in criminal investigation roles with a significant time spent in investigating homicide offences.
He has also worked as head of Public Protection and with Special Branch, joining Thames Valley Police in January 2016 as Assistant Chief Constable.
He was subsequently made Chief Officer lead for the South East Counter Terrorism Unit & Regional Organised Crime Unit, before being promoted to Deputy Chief Constable in 2019.
PCC Matthew Barber said: “After a detailed selection process I am delighted to announce that Jason Hogg is my preferred candidate to be appointed as the next Chief Constable for Thames Valley Police.
“Jason has been with Thames Valley Police for over six years – he has done an excellent job as Deputy Chief Constable and throughout his career with the force and I look to forward to working closely with him in the future.”
Incumbent Chief Constable, John Campbell, said when he announced his intent to retire back in August: “After four years in the post, over 13 years within the force and more than 35 years in policing, I have decided it is the right time for me to retire.
“It has been an honour serving the communities of the Thames Valley, and I am immensely proud of the officers, staff and volunteers who work around the clock, every single day, to keep our communities safe.”
The appointment will be subject to a confirmation hearing by the Thames Valley police and crime panel, where the proposal will be reviewed.
The hearing is currently due to take place on Friday, November 18.
