Reading FC manager says he is aware of fans’ criticism after a torrid last month but continues to ‘believe’ in his ability.
The Royals are skirting closely to the relegation zone after a run of four successive defeats in the Championship.
They sit just one place and two points above 22nd Peterborough United, who have a game in hand to play.
“I don’t want to say I’m ignoring that, I understand that,” said Paunovic in response to whether he believes the fans are losing faith in his management at the club.
“I believe in me and I don’t need anyone to believe in me.
“I know what I’m responsible for and I continue to do that.”
The Serbian boss is keen for his team to turn around their fortunes and pick up some points ahead of Saturday’s match away at high-flying Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.
“I’m looking forward to it, it’s a massive battle and they are a very good team.
“This is a moment where we can expect a resurrection. We’ll keep fighting.
“After QPR, we have another break of two weeks and we will be closer to catching up on fitness levels.”
QPR will prove to be a stern test for the Royals having gone on a run of five Championship matches without defeat (four wins, one draw) which puts them firmly in the hunt for the play-off places.
Mark Warburton’s team are in fourth position after 27 matches and may still fancy their chances at catching an automatic promotion spot, where they are currently four points behind second placed Blackburn Rovers, but with a game in hand to play.
Reading and QPR drew after a thrilling 3-3 match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium earlier in the season after Rangers snatched two late goals to take a point.
