Reading FC interim manager Paul Ince believes lack of stretching is the reason behind the Royals’ alarming rate of injuries.
Injuries to key members of the squad has been the story for the club throughout the season in a campaign that has thrown up several difficult challenges to contend with.
Ince explained why he believes his side are experiencing injuries so frequently.
“It’s strange how there have been so many injuries and we’re not sure why that is,” said Ince.
“Maybe they’re doing something wrong in the warm up.
“Stretching is a massive part of football.
“When I was at Inter Milan we used to stretch for 45 minutes before training and 45 minutes after and we never had many injuries.
“I don’t think here we stretch enough.
“For us to keep getting these injuries, it can’t just be bad luck.
“It has to be something we’re not doing or something we’re missing out.”
Ince provided an injury update ahead of the final Championship home game of the season on Saturday.
“We’re down to the barebones,” Ince continued.
“Thomas (Ince) is out for six weeks.
“Tom Holmes is out for the rest of the season.
“Azeez is out for the season.
“This is where we are with 15 senior players but it’s a great achievement that we’ve gone through this period with all the injuries to get players on the pitch and perform the way we want them to.”
