MEMBERS of a fundraising group have appointed a new honorary president.
The Pangbourne Rotary Club held its annual President’s night earlier this month, where they thanked outgoing president Saerah Hopley before welcoming Brian Davies as their new figurehead.
The event, held at The Springs Golf Club, was attended by 36 members and guests, including District Governor Marius Hopley, DG Elect Kate Hodges, District Secretary John Smart and Reading Matins President Elect Val Robinson as well as 10 partners, mothers and daughters of members.
Ms Hopley thanked the club for a wonderful year, which had raised £38,000 for charity due to the fund-raising efforts of members and the generosity of the public.
Awards were given to Jim Skinner (Humour), Deo Bikale (Service above Self), Paul Sampson (Bombshell moment) and Tony Eldridge (attendance).
Rohit Tanna then announced that two members, Brian Jenkins and Tony Eldridge had been given upgrades to their existing Paul Harris Fellowship awards for outstanding service and philanthropy over many years.
Mr Davies, from Upper Basildon, was sworn in as the new president. The retired sales and marketing executive, is seen here receiving his chain of office from outgoing President, Saerah Hopley.
He said he was delighted to be leading a healthy club, which contributes thousands of pounds every year to local, national, and international (including disaster relief) good causes, as well striving towards Polio Elimination.
And he said the club’s membership was also growing, which was vital to keep our fund-raising events sustainable.
