THE NEW owners of a popular Post Office want to relocate it and open for longer.
In January, Jasminder Singh retired as subpostmaster of the Salisbury Road Post Office at 198 Oxford Road, after 34 years in charge.
Now, new owners ZVF Pharma Ltd want to incorporate it into its pharmacy at 266-268 Oxford Road, a short distance of 240 metres from the existing location.
They say the proposed location has time-restricted parking and a disabled bay nearby, which they says would help support the viability of their business.
Under the plans, two full-screened counters would be installed, there would be a hearing loop, low level writing desk, low level serving counter and space for a wheelchair, and the new branch would offer the same range of products and services.
It would open for longer on Wednesdays, bringing it in line with the rest of the week, where it is open to customers from 9am to 5.30pm. It would be closed on Sundays.
A consultation has been launched, and customers can make comments using branch code of 112939.
