A FOOD retailer has applied for permission to sell alcohol from its branch in Reading’s railway station.
The Upper Crust, located on the station concourse, sells sandwiches and baguettes and is a national chain.
Its owners, Select Service Partner Ltd, have applied to Reading Borough Council for the chain in permission, which would see sales of alcohol permitted between 6am and 11pm daily.
These would be drinks that could be taken away, such as beer, cider or mixer cans, or small bottles of wine containing a single glass.
Anyone who wishes to comment on the application can do so by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk, and the deadline for responses is Thursday, September 14. These are publicly accessible and would trigger a meeting of the licensing committee.
Earlier this year, Select Service Partner received permission to sell alcohol at another kiosk it runs at the station: the Cafe Local between platforms 8 and 9.
