A Pizza Hut restaurant is due to return to Reading in just a few days.

The chain is known for its pizzas, pastas, desserts and its unlimited salad bar.

Pizza Hut closed its restaurant at Reading Gate Retail Park in 2021 and The Oracle in September 2022.

After that, people could only get Pizza Hut from takeaway and delivery locations in Oxford Road and Shinfield Road.

Its spot at Reading Gate Retail Park was taken over by the Itsu sushi, rice and noodle chain in August 2021.

But in a rebound, Pizza Hut will be returning to Reading Gate after a four-year hiatus.

The new restaurant will open on Monday, August 18.

A letter on the door states: “Get ready for delicious food, warm vibes, and a taste you’ll never forget.

“We can’t wait to welcome you!”

Signage for the pizza chain has been put up, yet no planning application for advertising could be found on Reading Borough Council’s planning portal.

Itsu initially closed on a temporary basis in March, which became permanent a few months later in May.

A report on the restaurant’s online website states that franchisee Heart with Smart went into administration in January.

The sushi chain retains its diner and takeaway at the junction of Broad Street and Queen Victoria Street in the town centre.

Pizza Hut previously had a restaurant at the Reading Retail Park in Oxford Road, which was converted into a KFC by 2012.

The council’s planning portal also states that Pizza Hut occupied Broad Street in the 2000s.
